NSYSU Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship

Overview

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) established the Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship in 2021 to encourage European students to undertake short-term studies in Taiwan and enhance Mandarin Chinese proficiency. National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) is one of the major universities to receive a comprehensive grant to provide scholarships to students from European universities. The scholarship slots are reviewed and adjusted each year.

Eligibility

Students (without a Chinese or Taiwanese nationality) enrolling at a university in the countries mentioned below are eligible for the TEC scholarship:

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K., Ukraine

Selection Process

  1. During the exchange program nomination process, partner institutions from eligible countries should submit their TEC Scholarship nominations at the same time.

Partners are asked to assign priority numbers to their eligible nominees. Each partner university may determine its own method or criteria for ranking and prioritizing its nominees, according to its internal policies or selection procedures.

  2. The TEC Scholarship is allocated based on the number of scholarship slots designated for each country by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Because the quota is assigned on a country basis, the level of competition may vary across countries. When multiple partner institutions from the same country submit nominations, all nominees will be considered together, and NSYSU will carry out a fair and consistent selection process, which may include a lottery component to determine the final scholarship recipients in accordance with the country‑specific quota.

  3. NSYSU will send the scholarship terms and conditions to the selected students and request their signatures by a specified deadline.

Students are officially considered scholarship recipients after completing this requirement.
