Application Process and Program Selection

Q: Q1. How can I apply?
A: Please follow these three steps to complete your NSYSU application:
- Read the Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan and the Admission Application Guide thoroughly.
- Go to the NSYSU Online Application for International Students, then create an account using your email address and set a password.
- Upload all required documents to the online application system.
Note: NSYSU does not accept documents submitted in hard copy, except recommendation letters. If you encounter any upload problems, please email intadmission@mail.nsysu.edu.tw.

Q: Q2. Can I apply for more than one program simultaneously?
A: Each applicant may apply for up to two undergraduate or graduate programs, and may apply to only one group within each program. Please submit the required documents separately for each program. Applicants admitted to both programs may enroll in only one.

Scholarships

Q: Q3. May I apply for more than one scholarship?
A: You may apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for; however, you may hold only one scholarship at a time. For details, please visit:

Q: Q4. NSYSU offers two types of scholarships for Ph.D. students. How should I choose?
A: Select “Yes” for the scholarship item in the online degree application system, and upload the consent form signed by your prospective NSYSU advisor before the application deadline. You are responsible for finding an advisor; please search the program website for a potential advisor and contact them by email.
In principle, all admitted Ph.D. students are granted a tuition and fees waiver (Type A). Only a limited number of students are granted an additional dormitory fee waiver (Type B).
Notes:
- The scholarship will be canceled if a recipient holds a work-based Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), an Alien Permanent Resident Certificate (APRC), or a full-time job on or off campus.
- For the International Elite Doctoral Student Entrance Scholarship, OIA will email further information to admitted applicants after the admission results are announced.

Application Documents and Eligibility

Q: Q5. If I am currently studying and have not yet graduated, what document should I provide?
A: Applicants who have not yet received their diploma should provide proof of enrollment issued by their school or university and upload it to the online application system.

Q: Q6. Do I have to authenticate my diploma and transcript when I apply?
A: You may upload scanned copies of your diploma and transcript when applying. If the original documents are not in Chinese or English, upload both the originals and their Chinese or English translations.
After the official admission results are announced, admitted students must submit their authenticated diploma and transcript to the Office of International Affairs by the stated deadline. Applicants graduating from a university in Taiwan do not need to authenticate their diploma and transcript. All offers of admission remain conditional until the required documents are submitted.
Degree documents: Submit a high school diploma when applying for a bachelor's program, a bachelor's diploma when applying for a master's program, and both bachelor's and master's diplomas when applying for a Ph.D. program.

Q: Q7. How much money should my financial statement show?
A:
- Provide a financial statement showing at least USD 4,000 or NTD 120,000, issued no more than three months before the application period.
- Full-scholarship recipients may provide a scholarship certificate instead of a financial statement. A scholarship application form is not accepted as proof.
- If the financial statement is not in the applicant's name, include a declaration signed by the sponsor that states their relationship with the applicant and confirms support for all of the applicant's expenses in Taiwan.

Q: Q8. Do I need to pay an application fee?
A: No. NSYSU does not charge an application fee.

Q: Q9. Must I submit proof of language proficiency?
A: Yes. All applicants must submit proof of language proficiency in accordance with the requirements of the program to which they apply.

After Submission

Q: Q10. What should I do if I receive an “Application Return” notice?
A: Log in to the online application system and review the comments explaining why your application was returned. Correct the application and click “Re-submit” before the deadline: March 15 for fall admission and September 30 for spring admission.

Q: Q11. I made a mistake in my application. How can I update it?
A: A submitted application is considered final. If you need to make changes, email intadmission@mail.nsysu.edu.tw before the deadline so OIA can return your application. Upload the correct documents and click “Re-submit” before the application deadline.
Important: Re-submissions after the application deadline will not be accepted.
